Blogilicious Meal Plan

Today is my last but one day in the office and since I did my hand over yesterday, I am incredibly bored.

I have done some research for companies for my translation work but I can’t really call them (that would be pushing it a bit:) ). So I figured that I will do my meal plan for next week. I am doing an experiment because we still throw in my opinion too much stuff away so I will shop on a daily/bi-daily basis – on “what do we need today” approach.

I can see the following advantages:

- it will get me and Dharma out of the house

- if I am strict with myself it should save money because we shouldn’t really throw anything away then but use it all

- the meal plan should get a bit more exciting than it has been recently

Disadvantages on the horizon:

- I will not manage to do the shopping on a daily basis – the high street is only a 10 minute walk but it might rain or so

- I will get tempted and buy too much :(

Either way I am going to try a few recipes from fellow bloggers next week and the meal plan is not put together on a daily basis but rather “Next week we are going to have”:

Lentil and Cauliflower Dal from the Fatfreevegan: I really only need the cauliflower – the rest is in my pantry. I heard on the radio this week how the cauliflower has gone out of fashion and that a lot of UK farmers don’t really grow it anymore because no one buys it. We love cauliflower, I can’t understand how one cannot like it. It’s versatile, tasty and incredible value for money – I always freeze the stalks and outer leaves in a stock bag once it’s full I make veg stock.

Phish-Burgers from Rural Vegan: I love Monica’s blog – not only because we both descend from Czech family! I have bought a lot of Tofu at the Chinese supermarket – I have every single ingredient at home but will get some lettuce, tomatoes, burger buns and make some homemade oven chips to go with it.

Vegan Thai Style Barley Risotto from Bryanna Clark Grogan: As I have mentioned before I am a bit on a mission regarding Barley. Why do people not eat it. We had a Barley Risotto just recently that Anthony made – it was so delicious, Dharma loved it as well. It’s healthy, tasty and cheap – a bag of 500gr costs 55pence at Sainsbury (of course you can buy it elsewhere too) and you need about 35-50gramms per person per meal. 10 portions out of one bag is excellent! And above all it’s tasty. By the way – I can only recommend that you check out Bryanna’s recipes especially if you are vegan.

Other than that I will cook:

Creamy Kale with roasted potatoes (Kale is one of my favourite vegetables)

Pad Thai (again using Tofu – did I mention that I bought a lot of it)

Pie surprise (the surprise being that I am not quite sure yet what veggies will go on top)

Carrot and Coriander Soup with Jaden’s no knead bread

God, writing this post has made me hungry.

  1. Your meal plan looks quite exotic this week, yummy! If you’re already buying burger buns & have lots of tofu, you could also do some Sloppy Joes or BBQ too. Mmmmmmm….
    Thanks for the mention! =)
